We <3 Growing

we <3 growing

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of spending summers with my grandfather in his fenced-in cutting garden and perennial beds at his cottage on Lake Simcoe. I’d happily spend hours puttering alongside him, learning as we went. At home, my mother dedicated countless hours each spring to planting annuals, and I eagerly joined her on trips to the nursery to select that year’s color palette. My father also nurtured my love for gardening by digging up a small plot in our yard for me to plant every year, starting when I was just a little one. I’d carefully choose the vegetables and decide where to plant them, often lining the bed with towering sunflowers. I have vivid memories of dirty hands, collecting the juiciest earthworms, and lugging around a watering can almost as big as I was.

As I grew older, my gardening journey took on a new dimension when I began flower farming. I was fortunate enough to help my in-laws at Ganden Gardens as they started their own farm. This hands-on experience deepened my passion for growing cut flowers, and since then, I’ve had the pleasure of working with other local flower farmers. Now, with 7 years of large-scale growing under my belt, I’m cultivating flowers of my own.

Whether you're looking for help with your backyard garden or starting out in cut flower farming, I’m here to provide guidance and support every step of the way!

“When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it, whether they want to or not. ”
